Future changes our society and technology. We can't even consider the future, however, if we allow ourselves to be trapped by the past. "discovering our future" by breaking out of ruts that unnecessarily confine us. The way we think about these events is influenced by our experience over the years.
Thinking allows one to build up an understand the future history in the same way that slowly build up an understand the history of previously unknown societies of the past by means of imaginations of the things that we can create in the future.
